A message from Scotian Materials'

Robert MacPherson

We understand that people have expressed public concerns regarding our intention to locate and operate a mobile asphalt plant in our Tote Rd quarry, Head of St. Margarets Bay .

We believe that it is vital for the community to be protected from any potential impacts of our operation. We are confident that the operation will not impact the health and safety of any nearby community, business or the environment as the setbacks and requirements set out for permitting and operation will provide suitable protection.

We also believe that it is vital for the community, and anyone else who is interested in the project, to be well informed with factual information in order to judge the proposed project. We understand that it is important for accurate and factual information to be readily available on a timely basis to ensure the proposal to locate and operate a mobile asphalt plant is understood for what it is and for what it is not.

We sincerely hope this information centre will be helpful in ensuring you have all the facts to make your assessment.

Please let us know if there is any additional information that would be helpful for you to fully assess the facts related to this project and the steps that have been taken to protect the community and the environment as well as its long term importance to the overall economic benefit to HRM and Nova Scotia.

Please note that regular updates will be made as any new information becomes available .
